Minster choir stalls

These stalls date from approximately 1520 - 1529 and are attributed to the Bromfleet or Carver family of Ripon.

The collection of 68 stalls here, in a double row, are claimed to be the largest in England.

The upper row has canopies and canopied niches supported on oak columns which have a central knop.

As at St Mary's, these stalls display similar fabulous beasts, tragedies, etc..

Details of two of the many misericords may be seen here.
