On an external buttress of the South aisle of the chancel is an oval tablet recording a tragic incident when William of Orange brought over a number of Danish soldiers:

Here two young Danish soldiers lye.
The one in quarrell chanc'd to die.
The others Head by their own Law.
With sword was severed at one Blow.
December the 23rd 1689.

The burial register has the following entries:

"1689, Dec. 16, Daniel Straker, a Danish trooper, buried. Dec. 23,
Johannes Frederick Bellow (beheaded for killing the other), buried.''
