Note the way that the corner of the wall has been cut away
to facilitate the turning of vehicles from one narrow street
into another.
St Mary's tower may be seen in the bright sunlight about
200 yards away to the north from this corner of Newbegin
north along Lairgate.

Dog and Duck Lane, another of the fascinating names
to be found in Beverley, with St Mary's visible to the
NW, looking along Ladygate. Ladygate is quite a narrow
street which crosses another thoroughfare with an interesting
name - Sow Hill Road, before reaching Hengate
at the side of St Mary's.
