Beverley Guildhall was built in 1762 and has been beautifully refurbished as the picture above testifies. The ornate plaster ceiling was created by Guiseppe Cortese, a Swiss-Italian artist and shows Justice without a blindfold.

The Guildhall is somewhat hidden away along a short street called Register Square off Tollgavel and is next to the central Post Office. It is surrounded on two sides by buildings comprising County Hall.

The interior of the building is normally open each Friday for public viewing. Check for timings at the Tourist Information office at the Wednesday Market end of Butcher Row.
